I went down the Elk River Road for the first time yesterday near the Rocky Mountains in Alberta, Canada. The destination was Camp down Cardinal River road. Me and my second driver made it and visited for a bit and did some business. I saw a storm coming when I was in Camp so I know we had to go soon. As we were leaving I stopped by my nephews playing road hockey. The one boy said that was snow coming so I said we had to go now. It started with rain and soon turned to snow. By the time we were at the Cardinal River turn the snow turned into a blizzard. The road going down the Elk River road was terrible. So we drove real slow and after I saw some deer running across the road I felt better. Once we passed the Elk River campground we were almost down. Finally, we made it to the pavement and took a break. That’s when I took pictures of my truck. We made it home and I am going to remember this trip for a long time. It was good going up but coming down was a nightmare. That’s the way October is in Alberta. Always be careful driving when in the Rocky Mountains and remain calm. I do not have a 4×4 truck but it’s recommended you do. I have rain and snow tires so that helped immensely.
